Men's Squash Swept by No. 16 Amherst

Freshman Andrew Lindsay had a close match at No. 6 for Vassar
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (December 5, 2009) – The Vassar College men’s squash team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 16 Amherst College on Saturday at the Kenyon Courts.

The No. 40 Brewers fall to 3-4 and will face No. 12 Bates College and No. 37 Vanderbilt University tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, at the StreetSquash/Columbia Center in New York City. The Lord Jeffs improve to 2-0 and do not play again this calendar year, next traveling to MIT on January 12

Amherst registered 3-0 sweeps at every position, but Vassar freshman Andrew Lindsay gave Zach Porges a fight at No. 6, with three close games in an 11-8, 11-7, 11-5 loss. Playing at the top of the ladder in his first collegiate match after recovering from an illness, freshman Jacob Harris also played tough, falling to Amherst’s Steve Severson, 11-7, 11-3, 11-6.
