Demougeot, McManis, and Robinson Earn End of the Season League Honors

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 5, 2009) – After leading their team to its third consecutive winning season, senior Anna Robinson and junior co-captains Carolyn Demougeot and Allison McManis earned Liberty League end-of-the-season awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches. Demougeot and McManis were named All-Liberty League Second Team, while Robinson was All-League Honorable Mention. The Brewers finished 9-7, 3-4 in the Liberty League and won their final four games, including the first 2-0 league weekend in program history with a 2-0 win over St. Lawrence University and a 3-0 win over Clarkson University in the final two games of the season.

A repeat All-League Second Team selection, Demougeot led the team and ranked third in the league with nine goals. The junior forward closed out her season on a high note,

scoring goals in Vassar’s final two games, as the Brewers finished the year with the first 2-0 league weekend in program history. In recognition of her efforts, she was named the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week and the ECAC Division III Upstate Co-Offensive Performer of the Week. Demougeot's speed and deft ball-handling abilities made her the focal point of opposing defenses as she tied for second on the team with three assists and ranked second in both shots (38) and shots on goal (19). Demougeot netted a career high four goals in Vassar’s season opening win over Mt. St. Vincent.

An All-Liberty League First Team selection as a sophomore and a three-year captain, McManis provided valuable leadership and poise in the midfield throughout the season. A steady contributor, the junior midfielder scored in seven separate contests, including the game-winners in a 1-0 win over Stevens and a 2-1 victory over Hamilton. McManis also scored league goals in 2-0 win over St. Lawrence and against RPI.

A constant threat with her speed on the sidelines, Robinson, a three-time All-League Honorable Mention selection, put immense pressure on opposing defenses, leading the team in both shots (57) and shots on goal (36). The senior forward was the league-leader in shots on goal, and ranked fourth in shots. Robinson was fourth on the team with five goals and tied for second with three assists. She had two multi-goal games with two goals in wins over Mt. St. Vincent and Mt. St. Mary. Robinson, who led Vassar in scoring as a freshman and sophomore, finishes her career ranked seventh on the all-time career scoring list with 23 goals.

Alex Tice
Men's Lacrosse
Tice set a new career best in saves when he recorded 17 in a tough 9-8 double overtime loss against Christoper Newport to conclude Spring Break games. Tice previously had recorded 16 saves as a sophomore goalie against Hamilton last March. For the 2-3 men's lacrosse team, Tice kept the Brewers close in a pair of overtime losses to Manhattanville and Christopher Newport, excelled in a 14-5 win over Medaille and shined in a hard-fought 9-6 loss to Alfred.
Sarah Warner
Women's Lacrosse
Warner started the 2010 season by scoring 10 goals with one assist in three Spring Break games. She scored four goals each against Bridgewater State and Drew and two against Simmons College. She scored the game winning goal against Drew and Simmons and placed 16 of her 21 total shots on goal. In her career, Warner has tallied four or more goals 10 times.
