Koenigs Named Honorable Mention AVCA All-New York Region
Hilary Koenigs
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 13, 2009)  -- Freshman setter Hilary Koenigs, who was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year, has added a considerable award to her growing portfolio. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that Koenigs was named  Honorable Mention on the New York State All-Region Team.

Hillary Koenigs
Koenigs, who earned Liberty League Rookie of the Year honors eight times during the 2009 season and was named All-Tournament at the recently concluded Liberty League Championships, was one of six players named All-Region. The New York State All-Region team featured 14 players and all but three players were from schools that Vassar faced during its 24-9 season. Koenigs led the Brewers in set assists with 1,067, a 9.36 per set average. That figure not only led the Liberty League, but stands as the fourth best single season mark in school history. It is also good enough to land her 7th all-time on the career set assist list.

Koenigs, a native of Spokane, WA., is a 2009 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School where she earned three varsity leters. She was named All-Greater Spokane League Honorable Mention as a sophomore, First-Team as a junior and earned Second-Team All-State honors as a senior.
