Zander Mrlik was named Rookie of the Week, freshman
Ali Higgins was named Defensive Performer of the Week, while junior
Carolyn Demougeot was named the Offensive Performer of the Week.
Kelly Holmes, Freshman, Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
In a 141-runner field at the Saratoga Invitational, Holmes finished 21st overall with a time of 19:16 in the 5k event. Her performance enabled the Brewers to finish 4th out of 13 teams, the finest showing for Vassar in the 20 years the Brewers have been competing in the race. This is the fourth week Holmes has been named the Rookie of the Week.
Zander Mrlik, Freshman, Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Mrlik had three points for Vassar in a 1-0-1 league weekend. In Vassar's 3-2 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday, Mrlik assisted on the Brewers' first goal, and scored their second. Mrlik is the league-leader in assists with ten. This is Mrlik's first career Liberty League award.
Carolyn Demougeot, Junior, Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week
Demougeot recorded five points for Vassar as the Brewers went 2-0 in league play this weekend. She netted Vassar's first two goals in a 3-0 win over Clarkson on Sunday, while recording five shots, three on goal. She is Vassar's leading scorer with nine goals. In Vassar's 2-0 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday, Demougeot recorded an assist. This is Demougeot's first weekly Liberty League award this season, and the third of her career.
Ali Higgins, Freshman, Women's Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week
Higgins had a shutout weekend for the Brewers, not allowing a goal in 180 minutes of play. She recorded four saves in a 2-0 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday, and added another four saves as Vassar downed Clarkson, 3-0, on Sunday. This is the first time Higgins has been named Defensive Performer of the Week to go with three Rookie of the Week honors.
Hilary Koenigs, Freshman, Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Koenigs was named to the Western Connecticut Invitational All-Tournament team following three matches in which she set a new career-high for set assists. In total, Koenigs had 114 set assists (8.77 per set) and earned a new career-high of 48 against Babson. Defensively, she had 41 digs (3.15) and contributed five blocks and aided the Brewers' cause with nine kills from her setter position. Koenigs continues to rack up Liberty League honors, as this week represents her sixth Rookie of the Week to go with a Performer of the Week award as well.
